I've been playing around with Lout, with a mind to adding it to the list
of SGI Freeware (see http://freeware.sgi.com/ for details). I've come
across the following problem. The environment is, of course, SGI IRIX.
When I generate PDF output, I can view it with Adobe Acrobat Reader but
I cannot print it. If I use the acroread "-toPostScript" option to
convert the file to PostScript, showps/xpsview gives me the following
when I attempt to display the resultant PostScript file:
The current file contains a PostScript error:
File: test.ps
Error: nocurrentpoint
Operator: currentpoint
The previewer cannot continue with this file.
I should say at this point that I get no problems whatsoever if I
generate PostScript output directly from Lout.
"lout -V" gives the following:
Basser Lout Version 3.16 (May 1999)
Basser Lout written by: Jeffrey H. Kingston (address@hidden)
Free source available from: ftp://ftp.cs.usyd.edu.au/jeff/lout
This executable compiled: 06:28:42 Jul 5 1999
System include directory: /usr/freeware/lib/lout/include
System database directory: /usr/freeware/lib/lout/data
Database index files created afresh automatically: yes
Safe execution (disabling system()) is default: no
strcoll() used for sorting by default: yes
Adobe Acrobat Reader Versions 3.0 and 4.0 give the same results.
Comments on this problem would be appreciated. Please mail me directly,
since I don't follow the list at this stage.
