Using Lout on WinXP

Hello,

I am new on this list.

I'm working on WinXP and I use Crimson Editor.

I have started writing a scientifical book using the latest stable 
release of Lout.
It's difficult to use it since I allways have to refer to the User Guide.

Is there any editor on WinXP to help writing document with command 
completion and/or color syntaxing ?

If not, perhaps on Linux (Ubuntu) ?
