You could try lynx -trace. That will turn trace mode on and perhaps you'll get
something. Another option is to use trace or truss or whatever tracing utility
exists on IRIX. Try "trace lynx" and see if it really hangs on select.
Or poll, which is more likely for SYSV. :)
