                                                                ... Does anyone
out there have some space to donate for such? Set things up to mirror stuff
like Subir and others put up, as well as the archives (might as well keep
  them
there for real, rather than just a mirror) and then use EWS or some sucht
  to index over all that.

Yes. We have two (mebbe 2.3) sites that have kindly volunteered
to help rehost the archives, and are asking what all is involved.
This conversation is goin on on ListElves. One of the functions
I know is good, but I don't know where it sits on the priority
list, is a) putting the docs on the same host and b) putting
search on the same host. You created a "local search" option.
How programmable is that? Could SLCC.edu or Sasquatch.com host
the Excite engine and FLORA host the mail archives and still have
a "search the Lynx-dev archive" option configured in with
adequate performace?

Maybe I need to wrassle you into the ListElves address@hidden, you have to sign
up, it's closed posting and not WebArchived] caucus.

You should be aware that Russell Ormond already has an initial capability
up and capturing the current traffic at FLORA. G)o to the URL cited at
the top and see.

Finally, link it in from lynx.browser.org or make it
look like it actually lives there (search.lynx.browser.org?)

Something like that is entirely intended.
