Yes, I didn't get around to asking yey.  Subir, would you be so kind...

I find that I am not myself using it, and would rather drop it.
Since it is not going to be in any official or semi-official
distribution for the foreseeabl future, it would have to continue
having a separate existence for a long time.  If anyone wants to
give it a home, or just wants to save it, I can wrap it up as a
separate patch and send it (it is only a few lines anyway).  Otherwise 
I will just drop it.

[The patch in question was originally posted by Larry Schwimmer, not
by me.  I had applied it to my local files, and it slipped in when
I prepared the DIRED patches - I will be more careful now to prevent
such things!  Fote and, I trust, Hiram have expurgated the unwanted
changes from their code sets.]
