no, the problem is that the text-entry field _CANNOT_ be modified--that 
is the only keystrokes lynx will accept when the cursor is placed in the 
text-entry field are up-arrow, down-arrow, or tab...

so even if i do tab to the submit button, there is nothing for me to 
submit...

i appreciate your offer to manually add my URL to excite's database, but 
that sidesteps the real problem--the inability of a lynx-user to add an 
URL to your data base using your site's form...

i have written to lynx-dev, the lynx development list about this problem, 
in the hope that they might be able to provide an answer to the question, 
why does lynx report the text-entry field as UNMODIFIABLE and refuse to 
allow text to be input into it?
