That doesn't mean I think I understand all those issues you mention.
So where do I go, what do I read to help me understand the "...
logic and security and efficiency issues" etc. ?

Is this moving in the direction of distinguishing between a "history list"
and a "cache" in the sense of the HTTP 1.1 draft? If yes, would VLINKS
be the true history list, and the History List just be called "History
List" for historical reasons? :)
