Lynx sends them if MAIL_SYSTEM_ERROR_LOGGING is set TRUE in
lynx.cfg. It's intended as an aid to site management, but I suspect
someone changed it from the default of FALSE, and is now sending
such messages indescriminately all over the Internet. I just changed
it to not send such messages to lynx-dev, but I wonder if it should
be eliminated completely in v2.7. It's from the "old days" when
most sites used Lynx with a local file set rather than a server,
and the document owners were all people at the same site, if not
just the site administrator alone, who was thus kept current on
any bad links at the site. The traverals serve that purpose now.
