Just to reiterate the prerequisites here:

1)  A functional C compiler
2)  gzip
3)  patch 2.1
4)  Gnu m4 1.4
5)  Autoconf 2.12

These are in order of necessity.  I went through the exercise yesterday
on DG-UX and found I only had (1), so had to get (2) to retrieve (3),
which can be used to create the patched version.  (5) won't install
without (4) already there.

Once a configure script is settled for Lynx, it will be distributed
and you would not need any of the above except for (1).
