        I'm not certain I've grasped what you're asking, but you can
get old versions of Lynx (back to v2.2), as well as the binaries that
were generated for them, in:

        ftp://ftp2.cc.ukans.edu/pub/lynx/oldversions

        The reason v2.3 works with some bad HTML that trips up newer
versions, is because it doesn't recognize tags that are interdigited
instead of properly nested in that HTML, and thus completely ignores
them (so they're not interdigitated; they're functional not there;
but they're also not acted upon in valid HTML 8-);

        As much as possible, I've added tricks, which Rob recently
referred to as "horridity", for getting around the requirement of
proper nesting with Lynx's stack-based SGML and HTML parsers. However,
one can't use such tricks for FORM start and end tags without risks of
crashes in Lynx. Perhaps in future development Rob will "snip" out
the "horridity" and provide means to cope with all such bad HTML, and
with no risks of crashes. All we can do, at present, is hope this
wonderful dream comes true. :) :) :)
