DJ Delorie (sp) the author of the djgpp compiler did the original port to
Lynx2.6.  I just expanded on his work when I did my Win32 port.  Much of
the credit goes to him since I used all his good parts :-)

This was left "just in case."  It is possible that altering that value may
impact what you see in the future even with a DOS version.  In any case,
you can avoid the message simply by doing a "SET TERM=vt100" before
running Lynx.

I am looking into ftp and news now.  They actually do connect but freeze
after that.  I think something can be done to fix that.

telnet and mail are external programs.  I haven't resolved those yet
completely within Lynx, but even after I do we still need working versions
of telnet and sendmail.  The djgpp version will actually run a telnet
within your path, but it will hang afterward.  The Win32 version says it
isn't compiled with telnet support--that would be a config error on my
part and it should work as soon as I find the right compile option.

I am assuming that things will be working better by the time the next
official version comes out.
