Welcome to Lynx. Lynx is many things; most importantly, it is a World Wide
Web browser that runs on Unix and VMS and works with all text-based
terminals for which full screen control is possible under these systems.
 
To run Lynx, type `lynx' (without quotes) at your command prompt and press
the Return (or Enter) key. Or, you can type `lynx' followed by any number
of startup options and/or a URL (Uniform Resource Locator). Two examples
follow (remember to leave off the quotes and press Return to execute):

   To view a list of startup options, type `lynx -help'. [or whatever -- DS]

   To go to lynx.browser.org, type `lynx http://lynx.browser.org/'.

When running Lynx, press the `?' key to see a user's guide, the `o' key to
see settings that you can (usually) change, or a capital `K' for a list of
keystrokes. Note that how Lynx works depends much on how it was installed
and what is contained in the file lynx.cfg. Happy browsing!

I took out "version" because many feel it is an inappropriate term for
in-process distributions/builds/makes/snapshots/patch levels.

Why no `(C)'? To have legal force, the term must be either spelled out in
full or represented by a *capital* _C_ fully enclosed in a _circle_.

will; keep the spirit.

I have no other thoughts about the stuff at the very top -- but let's try to
avoid adding any more lines.
