One of the patches available on the lynx FAQ pages is a patch that allows
xterm mouse control to select links, and allows the user to select text
by holding down the shift key.  I don't know whether the patch allows
this feature to be turned on and off or not.

HOWEVER, I _would_ like to see this patch wrapped into the configure driven
version of lynx...
