Note that I think it's about time to combine v2.7 and the
bug fix replacements as a v2.7.1 release, since no "serious" bugs
have been reported for some time, and the outstanding problems are
obviated by the autoconf and devel code, or on the devel TODO list,
and better treated as development issues.

I was planning to put a v2.7.1 release on SOL at the end
of the week or early next week, with the BUGFIXES file combined
with the CHANGES file.

I personsally don't think it's necessary to change the
version string for the devel code whenever there's an update of
that, rather than relying on it's CHANGES file, but it's string
still should indicate somehow that it's devel code and not yet
an official release. (That's just my personal opinion. 8-)
