No, just personal preference.

I could write some sort of walkthrough assuming a basic level of
understanding <gulp>

I think there are a couple of other ways to do it besides 4dos.  Let me
see if I can find any of them.

I am not totally opposed to having the code changed, I just want to make
sure there is a good reason.  What about the Mac ports?
