Friends,
I just noticed for the first time (with some astonishment) that
the display (at least by Lynx 2.7) of the following two constructs
was the same, with a space inserted between the ALT text and the
following text:
<IMG ... ALT="*">Some text
<IMG ... ALT="*"> Some text
unlike emacs-w3 where, as I'd expected, the first one was displayed
with the ALT text crammed against the text.
Not that I would ever _recommend_ people to do this:
<IMG SRC="big-L.gif" alt="L">ynx
but the fact is, people _do_ this kind of thing, and I'm surprised that
Lynx invents a white space where there was none in the source. (Of the
graphical browsers that I tried, MS IE (3.02) also invented a white space,
but NS and Opera didn't).
Is this an issue that has been discussed? I'm surprised that I haven't
seen it come up before.
[I'd appreciate a copy of any reply, as I don't subscribe to
lynx-dev myself]
thanks
