And in my hustle to apologize, I forgot to talk about the important
corollary to all this:

People using BIND will be updating in huge numbers (I *can't* be the
first on this list!).  The bottom line is that bind-8.1 has a new
set of libraries.  You can (should?) link with libbind.a instead of
libresolv.a, i.e., replace `-lresolv' with `-lbind' if you upgrade
to bind-8.1 and install the library.
