agreed heartily.

it is by now quite clear that the current spurt of development has gone on
long enough to justify the next official release of Lynx, ie 2-7-2.
a lot of improvements have been added, especially by Laura & Klaus,
many perhaps picked up & tweaked a bit by Zeus (who's on holiday).
i'ld like to try them out, but am not willing to go to the trouble
of downloading, editing lynx.cfg etc, compiling etc
only to find that version ac-23 has rapidly become ac-25 (or higher)
while i've been doing it.

the decision to create a stable 2-7-2 from the current development code
+ whatever Fote has added or amended where useful
would FOCUS everyone's attention on co-ordinating & perfecting
the material created during the past couple of months.
instead of interminable "Mine's better, yours is worse"
or "I didn't misunderstand, you did", we'll have a constructive discussion
of "That needs to be a compiled feature, not an menu option"
or "That still doesn't work reliably"
or "That really depends on X's work on blah, which isn't ready yet",
out of which will emerge a shiny new 2-7-2
which will receive the usual rave reviews from all those users out there.

then development can resume from that point
& we'll all have a better idea of what's going on (i have some idea).

it's now time for 2-7-2: let's DO it!
