        Don't give up quite yet.  After the set ups in HTFWriter.c,
the stream handling goes to HTFile.c.  Have you looked at that?
Perhaps you just have to do some tweaking there to deal with the
for-DOS/WIN/NT extensions, i.e, expand the present handling that's
just for Unix or VMS.
