Michael,
What you really should do is to get your BSD system up and running and
then contact the autoconf guys (a note here should do just fine) and let
them know that you are ready and willing to help them nail down the
autoconfig stuff for BSD. I am sure that they will apreciate having someone
who can verify that it works on that target, or provide knowledgeble info
on why it doesn't.
