I did a clean make of 2.7.1+fotemods and that's fine now.

I did a clean (without my temporary hacks for the mousemask and
statusline glitches) "configure" and then "make generic" with -36 and
it built without problems. Beyond the statusline attribute glitch,
there's still a problem with the handling of option attributes. The
ones with fixed values are being reversed (color 2) as intended, but
the ones with values to be edited also are being reversed, with that
not stopping at the end of the current value, but instead extending to
the right margin of the screen. The fotemods now makes those bold
(color 1), to make clear when you're moving among (or toggling) fixed
values versus have invoked the line editor. Also, highlighting of
command characters in the instruction line (above the statusline) is
intended to be bold, and is still reverse in -36. The popups themselves
work fine now, though I didn't try them with an xterm.
