the bookmark file isn't a normal file & has to be treated with care.
the best way to remove a bookmark is to edit the file & delete the line.
however, when editing a bookmark file don't do more than the simplest changes
within lines, or adding/deleting a whole line.
anything else can make the whole thing go haywire.
