LYNX-DEV Fatal bug in Lynx

From: Kevin Benton
Subject: LYNX-DEV Fatal bug in Lynx
Date: Tue, 23 Sep 1997 14:52:22 -0400 (EDT)

The following bug was found in Lynx which was distributed on the InfoMagic
August 1997 CD set in the Slackware distribution. The problem can be
recreated by going to the page below and trying to go to links near the
end of the file. It appears that Lynx is unable to handle the number of
url's in the file.

When lynx is browsing this page, lynx will fatally crash while reading
through the chapter lists on this page. It appears that there are too
many url's on this page for lynx to be able to browse it.

***

We use Lynx here specifically to avoid being able to see the graphic
content that many web sites on the net have. Switching browsers at this
point it not an option.

GCN - you may consider a different interface temporarily so that you don't
incurr problems from having too many links on one page. Feel free to use
the interface we have on our Bible text at http://www.tims.net/ (click on
audio, then kjv... From there, it should be self explanatory.
