With so much expertise around, somebody should be able to look at
LYgetch() in src/LYStrings.c and (after unravelling all the spaghetti
ifdef'ing...) actually suggest a way to solve the problem.

Is this the same problem as, or related to, the umlaut problems for
lynx_w32?
