100 percent agreed with Philip Webb's basis for a change if and when it
happens. I don't consider it a high priority: in fact I got 'trained'
by using DOS... and I still use my vintage DOS ver 3.31 even knowing
that recently DOS has finally been implemented commas or 'country
dependent separators.'
I think that the SI rules prescribe the grouping for strings of more
than 4 digits, probably to avoid funny looking dates, e.g., '1 997'
