Sorry about the last post; just couldn't resist.  If you're using an
old patching mechanism to update userdefs.h, you'll have to hand edit
it the first go around since userdefs.h was modified significantly to
put the "anonymous account" stuff at the end.  Anyway "`LYNX_VERSION'
undeclared" is most likely an editing error in userdefs.h.
