there have been replies to your other points,
but maybe people have missed your point here.
you can use the options screen (enter  o ) or change  lynx.cfg
to set  LINKS_ARE_NUMBERED ,
which shows numbers against each link which you then enter to go there.
you can still use  ^e  to go to the last link, if that's what you want.
there is extensive help available by entering  h .
