I wrote earlier of a problem linking the latest lynx to the latest libslang.
That apparently was a problem of the installed gnu gcc software, that was
fixed by a bugfix for the particular egcs gcc installation.

There is one other problem, however:  The latest libslang has a function
that may need to be called from main() of lynx to initialize character
translation between Win95/NT and lynx:
