I have to agree with Phillip - I can think of few occasions when folk
were willing to try to create a fix for a problem specific to an older
version.

However, there have been cases in which folk explained how to _use_
older versions of lynx.

Perhaps it's just a matter or wording things correctly?  Something like:

Assistance on using lynx can be obtained.  Fixes are issued in relation
to the latest version of lynx - if you believe your version of lynx
is not operating correctly, upgrade to the latest version to ensure the
problem has not already been corrected.
