That is on the "To Do" page and has been for a while (1). The person
responsible for putting in the chartrans stuff (Klaus Weide) was most
able to do this, but has been unavailable lately. I probably don't have
the coding talent and definitely not the time.

That sounds great. Discussing the current #define files might be a way
to stir up interest in the "right way".

As long as it works on VMS, Win32, etc...
