i'm not sure if anyone answered this.
your sysadmin needs to get Lynx 2-8 from  www.slcc.edu/lynx/release ,
which has the feature "links and form fields are numbered";
he or she can then enable this at compile time.
i don't use "show cursor", but i believe the same applies.
