first, get the latest Lynx 2-8 from  www.slcc.edu/lynx/release/ :
it has  > 12 months  improvements since 2-7-1.

the DOS experts may be able to give you some advance advice,
if your problem would still occur with 2-8;
generally, the DOS port seems to have stabilised, so give 2-8 a try.
