lynx-dev Cannot access Application User Interface

I have installed lynx2.8 on SunSolaris 2.5 platform. The application uses
the lynx browser for  text-only displays. The applications starts up and the
Main Control Panel is displayed with the lynx options and cursor at the
bottom left.

I cannot use arrow keys to select the applicatons options on its main
control panel. All the lynx arrow keys and commands seem to work just fine.
What am I missing here. Would appreciate some assistance.
