980705 Leonid Pauzner helped correct Lynx Help for Beginners:
have another look: i hope it's accurate now.
also, in the course of examining lynx.cfg & the Users' Guide,
i have come across some problems with them:
(1) there is no account in the Users' Guide of the Option `^a'
-- Assume Charset if Unknown -- ; this is rather serious,
since there are 2 switches which it could correspond to:
-assume_charset & -assume_unrec_charset ;
(2) only 2 Options are mentioned in the long accounts in lynx.cfg ,
Preferred Document Charset & Assume Charset (ie -assume_charset ),
tho' in fact there are 4 Option settings affecting character sets.
i am myself a potential reader of such help files:
i am very familiar with Ancient Greek & an occasional reader of Russian
& i quite often want to read/write French with its accents.
my hardware is an XT with Kermit & a 2400-baud modem
to a university UNIX system where advisors are chronically overworked.
so far, i've simply avoided approaching the problem as too complex,
but clearly it's an area of Lynx documentation which is important.
