lynx-dev Setting Lynx URL Timeouts

Hello,

I'm currently using Lynx 2.8 as an "link-validator" for a *whole* bunch
of HTML documents I have. Basically, I'm using Lynx as a component in a
Perl script on UNIX (which handles the details of scanning through the HTML
documents).

I'm using the following Lynx command as the heart of my Perl link
checker:

            lynx <some_url> -mime_headers

But it seems that Lynx seems to "wait" an exceedingly long time
(~5minutes) before giving up on non-responsive HTTP location and returning:

            lynx: Can't access startfile <some_url>

When my Perl script sees this, it reports that the link is dead and
moves on.

Is there anyway that I can direct Lynx to give up sooner so my script
can proceed to other links quicker? I mean, 30 seconds would be the upper
limit I would wait. :-)

Anyways, my Perl script works wonderfully with Lynx but, unfortunately,
it has *alot* of links to check of which, many of them are dead or
unresponsive. The dead ones are taking up alot of time...

Thanks for any help you can provide.

James
