lynx-dev Escape char?

When I'm over a text entry field, is there a way to tell lynx that the
next character I'm about to type should be interpreted as a command
(e.g., 'o' for options menu), rather than inserting the character in
the text entry field?  Maybe some espace sequence like Ctrl-something?
Or do I have to tab to the next non-entry field and then do it?  Thank
you very much.
