One other thing. If you can't convince them that they have made an
inappropriate choice of proxy, at least get them to configure it to
re-proxy through someone on the Squid cache network (most ISPs) so
that they gain the benefit of proper caching. That will also mean that
the FTP to HTTP gatewaying will be done by working software, as well as
improving web throughput.
