Lynx does no default rendering of graphics, javascript, java, and probably
quite a few other things. I think that the prose mentioned may be a bit
gushing.

One can configure lynx for instance to display links to IMG links,
various maps. But one cannot of course force display of content that
the terminal itself cannot display . For instance, if one is using a
monochrome text only environment, with no graphical display possible,
then one will find it difficult to configure lynx to invoke helpers
showing text displayed in colored fancy text, difficult to access pages
which require javascript , difficult to find helper apps to interact with
pages whose text and manipulation require java, almost impossible to surf
thru pages which require interaction with shockwave or other specialty
plugins . If a site requires interaction with a hypertext linked pdf,
you are likely to have problems since I don't know of a text helper for
that format, etc. You also may find sites which make heavy use of
tables difficult to read.
