you'll have to tell us more about which version of Lynx
-- enter  =  to find out: latest is 2-8-1 --
& whether it is an emrl.com service
or you compile your own Lynx & they simply provide WWW access.
lots of sites offer cookies: it's ok to decline them most of the time.
your garbage problem could be caused by a bad phone line,
mismatched communications protocols (eg with Kermit),
badly written documents, etc:  ^L  rewrites the screen for you.
