I've been working through the large patches that I set aside before the
last release - this is about half of what I had.  I'll continue, probably
get the others in during the next patch.  The gettext and (in this patch,
sprintf-replacement) are the ones that I'd estimate require the most
followup work.

LP has suggested that we add the 2.8.1 fixes to make 2.8.1rel.3; one of his
patches which I have not gotten to yet should be applied.  I'll look at
that one next, and see if I have time to integrate/test a rel.3
concurrently with the dev.4 work.

* misc documentation updates for the gettext/internationalization - LP
* rename po/makefile.in.in to po/makefile.inn, and modify distclean rule to
  remove the remaining generated files - TD
* add preliminary changes from: address@hidden to support port to OS/390,
  some ifdef'd with __MVS__, some with EBCDIC and NOT_ASCII.
* modify LYCookies.c to accept cookies with no value, in case the site resets a
  cookie by nulling out the value (reported by Larry Virden) - BJP
* modify cookie parsing to ignore comment lines beginning with a '#' (reported
  by Jonathan Bobin indicates that Netscape adds comments back, confusing Lynx)

  overflows - TD
* modify HTVMS_purge() to rename the remaining file to version 1 unless a
  permissions problem was encountered - TD
