Are you trying to install from source code, as you would find from
slcc.edu, or are you working with a precompiled lynx.exe from a place
like www.fdisk.com/lynxport ? For newbies, the second is the better
option. The batch file which comes with Lynx_32 assumes some paths
that are probably not correct on your computer. I think you could get
started by going to a DOS box, changing directories to where Lynx.exe
exists (probably lynx_32), then running Lynx. When you first install
Lynx from lynx_32.zip, you should let the ZIP extractor program create
subdirectories under the Lynx_32 directory. You will soon want to
change the
startfile: option in lynx.cfg to point to home page you will
frequently use, I start from a bookmark file previously created with
other versions of Lynx on other computers. Doing it that way, I
don't have to have dial-up networking dial out until I really need
something.
I'm sure you will have more questions. Please write back; I use
Lynx_32 because it works very well with screen reading programs and
speech synthesizers for DOS.
