lynx-dev hotlink errrors in 2.8.1

am using 2.8.1 release 2 on unix 
certain hotlinks do not display in bold but when moved into, then
display in bold as long as that page is shown. if one scrolls off the page 
and then returns it is no longer bolded.
this happens on hotlinks that are wrapped to next line and occur at
the start of that line.  this also occurs in <li> lines with 
hotlinks if wrapped to a new line 
the same pages display okay when using 2.7.2 lynx
am using a vt100 emulator (kermit 3.15) with a b/w screen  
can offer sample file if necessary or can get compile configuration
