Check your lynx.cfg file for

PERSONAL_EXTENSION_MAP:.mime.types

and start lynx with "-trace" and see if the $HOME/.mime.types is being read.

Yes, it does, but only with ftp URLs. With http URLs the filetypes are
defined in the http server.

You can do it by pressing "d" on the link.

By the way, MIME types are case insensitive. No need for BNY, Bny, bNy, BNy,
etc.
