Isn't there a 8 bit qualifier that one can specify along with text/plain?

The bottom line is that the mime type he is generating is wrong - the file
isn't text/plain .  At the very least he should be using the octet-stream.
But after reading the page, it certainly looks like the guy wants to be a
pain in the butt anyways, and his exchange with you confirms that in my 
mind...
