Sending in the disclaimer to the FSF, which I did do, was a BIG mistake,
for _me_. I'm not saying that is true of everyone, but I would advise
others to think about it more carefully than I did. In the past, I have
considered what few hacks I do on Lynx as legitimately within the range
of my work duties. Thus if I have fifteen minutes here or there during
the day, like now, there is no problem to doing it. Since signing the
disclaimer for the translation, I am now forced to work on it only on
my private time, which is only a few hours a week of waking time. I'd
rather spend it with my family. The result is that since sending in the
disclaimer, I've only translated maybe five strings.

I regret having sent in the disclaimer. I may try to initiate a
withdrawal of it since I feel, in my case, that would benefit Lynx.

Rather than put the *.po files under the absolute control of the FSF,
I'd recommend that we beg Scott to add a directory for them on his
server, and for the volunteers, which seem to be spilling in recently,
who run mirrors, to also mirror the po subdirectory.

My offer stands to put them, bz2 compressed, on my rickety server.

Basically I have been, perhaps more than necessary, critical of the
inclusion of the entire /po and /intl directories. My thinking is that
they are entirely separate from Lynx. The whole /intl directory is
a package of tools within itself, and at least up to the time I was
actively involved in it, the one in Lynx was hopelessly out of date.
The GNU implementation of gettext() is not the only one, and I see no
benefit from forcing Lynx into the GNU mold. As to the /po directory,
with a program that changes as much as Lynx, it's absurd to have any
po file since to do it right, the xgettext command should be run fresh
after every break-out. Even for long periods that the strings are fixed
and stable, I doubt you want to force de.po on me any more than you
would want my ja.po. With all the languages in the world, we are talking
about many MB of space. What a waste. But, yes, it's all in the archives.
