No, I wanted to know my current directory so I could know where the file
was about to be saved. After browsing for a while, I forget what
directory I was in when I started. If I download, say, an image, I'd
like that to go in my home directory, but a tarball, I'd like to go
in /tmp so I can unpack it and see what's in it without affecting my
quota. If I know the current directory, I can save myself a lot of
typing in most cases.

Perhaps this info could be printed in addition to the current dir....
just an idea.

I agree. I had completely forgotten about that. I withdraw the patch on
security considerations alone.

For the anonymous case, that's not a bad idea...

Since English is a mess, it maps well onto the problem space,
which is also a mess, which we call reality. - Larry Wall
