It's working! I applied the patch to dev.19 (no resyncing needed) and it
compiled fine with SSleay 0.81b. I tried all my usual HTTPS test sites and
it worked on all of them. I couldn't check snews because I don't know any
secure news server. However, my compile_log file grew from 121k to 863k.
I used to get hundreds of "warning: function declaration isn't a prototype"
but now it seems I'm getting thousands of them... ;-)
