lynx-dev remote access problem

Hi,

I am using lynx 2.8.1pre.9 (the version that came with Red Hat 5.2) on a
dell laptop and I keep getting a "unable to connect to remote host" message
everytime I type Lynx from the command line.  my laptop is a dual boot with
Win95 and I can fire up netscape just fine under Windows.  Do you have any
idea what the problem could be?
