not exactly - I asked for more information (and this appears to be the
second response, since - perhaps it was late - I don't remember the
associated trace).

Perhaps what's happening is that the temporary file is not being closed
before spawning the viewer - resulting in a permissions problem.  In that
case it would not be VMS-specific.

(I meant to test that idea, but dev.22 was running past schedule - so this
is on my dev.23 list).
