Yes - that's a limitation of xterm, and probably most similar programs (I
just added a related note about logging to my xterm faq earlier this week).
The cut/paste read directly from the screen image, which is already
translated into the characters that are _used_ to display the lines.

(I suppose the "fix" for that would be for JED to make a $LINELESSTERM
environment variable to define a class of crippled terminals by
subtracting the alternate character set from each terminal description,
along with an option on Lynx's option screen to do the same thing ;-)
